Selecting a niche – Important for low-budgeters.

Earning money has never been easier than now. We are seeing a lot of stints out there, a lot of companies with their product ready to be promoted and sold, commissions to be earned. Well, i admit, it is a hell of a time and internet marketers are running hither-tither on what to do fast and what to do now.

So, the question in consideration, the issue at hand, which has driven this post here – Which niche to be in? Which company to be affiliated with? Which product to promote? What means to use to promote?

Yes, it is a very relevant question, and i myself am one of the many who has this dilemma on what to do with my sites.

So here’s how i plan for the season and how you could plan for. I always start out new ventures with minimum investments because i don’t want to keep too much at stake. So i guess that makes me just like another new-comer in online marketing in financial terms. So any of you could apply this scheme or one derived from this with at least some sense of surety that this won’t go waste.

Okay, so how much initial investment am I talking about? Well, let’s be common in this and take $30. Everybody has got 30 bucks (well, not me know, due to some personal issues), but it can’t be that hard to get $30 up and going. So. our budget is $30.

We are going to do the following things basically:

1. Identify, evaluate and then select a niche.
2. Get going some resources at first, poke the nodes in the niche.
3. Invest in the niche properly.
4. Develop our presence in the niche make it fruitful.
5. Expand laterally. Re-invest earnings back into the scheme.
6. Sit back and relax. Let the money pour in.

Well, that was easy, wasn’t it and it sounds easy too. Well, hell no.

It is as hell as difficult and boring if you don’t keep your mind and interest in it. But if you do, then i assure you, there is nothing more fruitful than earnings from a hard day’s work.

So, let’s get started.

1. Identifying, evaluating and then selecting the niche.

Well, this is the most tricky part actually. If you have a niche that is unique, then well, wow. it’s very rare for an opener to identify a new niche, but nothing is impossible, right.

All crap aside, beginners should be looking for unsaturated niches, less competitive with mostly other beginner’s in it.

Why?
Well, the lesser the competition, the more chance of your success. If only beginner’s are in the niche, the better. The more chance of people making mistakes and the more chance of you dominating the niche.

So, how do we filter out niches like these…? Take the low paying ones. Yes, veteran and expert web marketers choose to skip niches which have lower payouts and commissions. To them it is actually a loss to be investing their TIME, in low return niches, when they have the expertise and resource to take chances in high paying ones.

Some niches of this sort are the ones like software try-outs, service try-outs with low payouts. Check out the ones on sites like CommissionJunction.com, CPALead, OfferVault which pay low, accept you without much hassle into their programs (because there aren’t much other promoters).

Once you have a basic idea of the niche, think like a potential customer or lead to find out the keywords. It is always best to choose keywords this way. Normal people won’t be looking into keyword analysis or research before deciding on the keyword to use for searching. So, for a personal looking to buy AntiVirus software, assume that they will search something like “good antivirus”, “best antivirus” or similar. Ask some non web-savvy person at your home to get a better idea on common search logics.

Next, find out the Commercial Intention of this keyword using this tool here – Online Commercial Intention

While selecting a niche, it is better to choose keywords with values of commercial intention between 0.55 and 0.65 (for beginner marketers). This way, you won’t be getting into high competition keywords with higher commercial intent saturated with veterans.

So, we have identified, evaluated and selected a niche.

2. Poke the niche nodes.

Poking the niche nodes means getting into decisive positions in the niche and acquiring responses. To do this, you can go to websites like DigitalPoint, PromoJunkie, and WarriorForum etc to see what niche people are talking about. Put in casual remarks on the niche you planned and see what people are saying. You know what to note from their responses. Yes, know their type of interest and learn the general outlook for that niche.

If people are convinced of the niche’s surety for success then good, and if they are disinterested because of the returns, better.

3. Invest in the niche.

Yes, it’s time to crack-open the piggy bank and get those shineys out. Invest in a proper domain and web hosting. I’d suggest GoDaddy.com for domains and HostGator.com or Hosting24.com for hosting. GoDaddy provides cheap .coms and HostGator has been vetted awesome by many people online. And about hosting24.com, Tonz.net is hosted there and we never had an issue which the crew there couldn’t rectify fast.

A decent shared hosting would cost around $10 per month. If you are choosing hostgator.com, use this coupon to take out $9.94 off the first month rent. just pay $0.01 for the hosting using it.

Or try GoDaddy hosting – $1.99 Web Hosting

For the domains use the ad below to get domains @ $1.99 -

Yes, it is my referral. I don’t know how else to give this link here.

Choose whichever domain and hosting service provider you are cool with, just ensure they are reliable.

Assuming you used the two $1.99 schemes, we still have $26 out of the $30. and we have ourelves a domain and a hosting. Or if you used the $1.99 domain and $0.01 hosting (hostgator), then $28 remaining.

Before moving on, a minute on the domain. Always try for a .com domain. Search Engines prefer .com, people most often type keywords and then press Ctrl+Enter, and ,com is reached, when selling later, .com tensd to get sold easily. So, get a .com, even if you have to try to change the keywords a little using hyphens or something.

Having invested there, get a website, preferably a wordpress blog on there. Always use free web cms systems if you can – Saves money, has good support, Saves money. You can always switch without any loss.

If you have trouble getting this done, try any freelancer site to get this done for you. May cost somemoney, but there are many wonderful offers at freelancer.com, digitalpoint etc.

If you want, then i will provide the wordpress blog or cms installation for free if you use my referrals in registering the domain and hosting.

4. Develop our presence in the niche properly.

Yes, we got a domain, hosting and website and we are ready to get kicking. Time to get traffic. The best thing for a beginner to get traffic is to get reading some stuff on the niche and create articles for submitting to article directories. A post especially on this is coming soon.

Or, if you are not good at writing content so off-handedly, then get some free or paid articles with PLR, there are a lot of those, just search on Google for them and then re-write them, i.e edit them and put them on your blog.

Bring it up one section at a time. Perform link-building to get more traffic and improve SERP.

Start promoting stuff by selecting the products we talked about, those which are easier to be affiliates of.

It is difficult to include more information, without making this post extremely long. A detailed E-Book on this post theme is coming soon.

5. Expand laterally. Re-invest earnings.

Re-invest part of your earnings to improve the site and traffic. Re-investing is very important. You have to develop the niche along with your marketing, otherwise the niche will stagnate and go dead.

Expand laterally by taking up more products in the niche for promotion and improving your site with articles and content for it.

6. Sit back and relax. Let the money pour in.

Yes, this is it. If all the above steps went okay, then you’ll see a stream of residual income pouring in.

We are working on a more detailed pdf version with more tricks and tips, soon to be released.
It will be kept for sale, but some free copies are being given out.
